I have had careers both as an external auditor/evaluator in the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) and as senior internal management auditor in the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Since then I have been a consultant on international development consultant programs including Anti-Corruption Expert, Good Governance Auditor and trainer of government auditors on modern concepts and best practices. I have worked in Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Indonesia, Latvia, Moldova, Peru, Philippines, Ukraine, United States and Venezuela. I have also presided over, contributed to and moderated a number of international government financial management conferences in Washington, D.C.; Miami, Florida; Bournemouth, England; Brisbane, Australia; Cairo, Egypt; Lahore, Pakistan; New Delhi, India; San Jose, Costa Rica, Budapest, Hungary, and Madrid, Spain.
I have traveled over most of the world in the past forty years and have started writing articles on the perspectives I have gained. I have enjoyed watching the stereotypes (mostly negative) drop when I enter a new country and new, more positive impressions emerge even in the those countries which are the poorest in economic terms. I enjoy meeting new people and learning new things. So I have started writing down the ideas and concepts that have emerged in this process of working and living in different cultures and countries. I would like to share some of my writing with you, get your reactions and ideas and incorporate them in my future writing which would also include case studies to illustrate my concepts. So, hopefully we can begin this dialog, and produce some interesting articles and maybe even a few good books, Jim Hamilton.
Greetings from my niece's home in the Philippines!
